Ocean Governance: Protecting and restoring marine ecosystems, catalysts for building peace and security and fostering sustainable economies, South Asia and Atlantic Ocean basin

The “Ocean Governance: Protecting and restoring marine ecosystems, catalysts for building peace and security and fostering sustainable economies, South Asia and Atlantic Ocean basin” (EuropeAid/139855/DH/SER/MULTI) project will promote EU’s engagement as a global actor in international ocean governance by fostering regional and inter-regional cooperation relevant to the protection and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems. It will take forward concrete cooperation for specific identified marine protected areas and /or degraded coastal and marine ecosystems around 2 basins: the South Asian region and the Atlantic Ocean. It will actively contribute to the efficient management of marine protected areas and will enhance cooperation of marine protected areas in and between the Atlantic and the South Asian regions. It will also facilitate broader regional cooperation on marine and coastal resilience in the South Asian region with a view to underpin regional stability.

Specifically, Blue Pangolin Consulting are managing the Marine Mammal Twinning. This twinning will include the development of a Marine Mammal Management Toolkit that aims to fill knowledge gaps and to empower practitioners, managers and policy makers to effectively conserve marine mammals. The toolkits, and more information about the Marine Mammal Twinning can be found at: www.marine-mammals.info
