Evaluation and assessment of the impacts of the IUCN trainings for Protected Areas Managers in West and Central Africa

IUCN has developed a two year Master programme and a University Diploma (8 weeks) on protected area management.  These courses are targeted toward protected area managers (and their scientific, NGO or private sector partners).  They aim to provide them with the tools and specific technical skills required to improve the way parks are managed and to ensure their actions are sustainable.  The university diploma (8 weeks) is organized in modules combining theory and practical fieldwork where the different tools can be applied. To date, more than 150 persons have been trained.  The study assessed the impacts of the trainings and provided recommendations. The work included missions in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Niger.
